Although having A de-watering unit on order from Comocri a Power Station in the North West still had a problem and that was it had an urgent need to clean and bring back into spec approx 40,000 litres of oil being held in its "Dirty Oil" tank, the answer lay in the hiring of OTS 70 from Comocri to cover until delivery of its ordered bespoke unit. Below is a brief overview of its performance.

"Please find attached the results of the OTS70 when working on our bulk used lub oil tank.The tank contained some 56,000 litres of ISO VG32 oil, drained from different plant. The unit was connected to the tanks "conditioner" connections and put into service on 9 March. Initial samples taken from the units inlet sample point gave an oil quality of 150ppm moisture and ISO 4405 24/19 for particulate.

After 20 days operation the oil was transferred from the used to clean oil tank as the quality had improved to 114ppm moisture and ISO 13/10 for particulate, the oil quality was well within our "clean oil" specification.

The bulk tank is sited external to the buildings and has no heating, therefore oil temperature followed ambient i.e. 1C to 10C. It is believed that due to the low ambient temperatures, that the oil had formed layers within the tank, each draining forming a different layer, the contamination of each layer being different from the adjoining layers".
